Open plan kitchen & dining extension to Grade II listed home

Location:

Date:

Thaxted

2021

Project overview

Bright & spacious kitchen and dining extension to grade II listed building. Designed with traditional oak beams and windows in keeping with the listed building, but creating modern living spaces on the interior.

The existing kitchen was extremely small, a peculiar shape, and was used as a through route to the garden. The extension provides an open plan space for a kitchen / dining / living space with bifold doors that open onto the patio, providing a link between the interior of the house with the garden.

The extension has glazing between oak studs on the gable end and a glazed lantern over the dining space allowing natural light to flood the room.

Testimonial

"Rachel is excellent!  She was professional, knowledgeable and approachable throughout our project, providing detailed and accurate guidance on the planning process and accommodating all our foibles.  We felt she really understood what we wanted and was invested in the project.  Her approach to contract administration made life easier for both us and our builder.  If ever we have another building project, we will engage Rachel without a second thought."
